County Durham Housing Group expand to Spectrum Business Park

Spectrum Business Park celebrate client win after County Durham Housing Group complete their fit out and take occupation in Spectrum 6.

County Durham Housing Group (CDHG), which is now responsible for Durham County Council’s housing stock, and provide homes and services to around 18,400 households across County Durham, now occupy the entire first floor of Spectrum 6, totaling 14,000sqft

The company, which officially launched on 13 May 2015, moved to the new office space in Seaham with 45 members of staff who have transferred across from the council and three subsidiary landlords, including Dale & Valley Homes, Durham City Homes and East Durham Homes. The new office space enables the organisation to undertake a colossal recruitment drive, with a view to hire 120 members of staff over the next 18 months.

Jill Ancrum, Communications and Engagement Officer at CDHG, commented on process and said:

“The council’s Assets Team proposed 12 premises based upon the specification we provided, which comprised of offices that are based within our landlords’ parameters, has enough room for expansion, car parking facilities and access to local amenities. Once we viewed Spectrum 6 it ticked all the boxes.”

Following an appraisal of all the options, the board agreed that Spectrum Business Park was the best solution.

Ms Ancrum added: “In terms of cultural development and staff amenities, it’s a great location. Seaham has had a lot of development in recent years in terms of transport links. It’s straight off the A19, has its own train station and excellent commuter links.”

Director of Performance and Business Development at CDHG, Marie Roe, added: “Spectrum Business Park gives County Durham Housing Group a modern and fresh identity. Because we are essentially a start-up company it allows us to grow and develop as an organisation by putting some roots down in the first few years of us being established. In order for us to develop we needed a space which was flexible and allowed room for growth.”

Spectrum Business Park offers serviced and corporate office space for companies with between 1 and 600 people. It’s current clients include the renowned BE Group, Durham County Council, the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and East Durham Business Service.
